Achievements
The Forest Surgery is a popular practice. To continue to improve we try hard to provide our patients with what they need. Our belief is that patients want to belong to a practice where they feel cared for and receive a professional service with continuity. We believe in being a ‘family practice’. How well we actually perform in this regard is of course difficult to measure and not every aspect of care is tangible. The achievements listed below are only examples of our performance.
Influenza vaccination
The Flu bug kills every year. While for some it may be a short-lived illness for vulnerable groups, in particular the elderly, it can prove fatal. The Department of Health sets the target of how many of our elderly population should be vaccinated.

The Quality & Outcomes Framework
Nationally developed, closely monitored and automatically audited centrally, the framework assessing performance in respect of many of the common major conditions in Primary care. This includes heart disease, diabetes, asthma, mental health, dementia, and many others. For further details please refer to the Primary Care Trust website (see useful links).

Teaching
The Forest Surgery is a Hub teaching practice associated with the Barts & the Royal London Medical School. The involvement of medical students is welcomed at the surgery and patient cooperation in this regard is very much appreciated. Students bring fresh ideas along! You may be asked to allow students to sit in during consultations, ask you questions, examine you or you may be asked to attend teaching sessions. In so doing you will be contributing to the training of students who, after all are tomorrow’s doctors. However your participation is entirely voluntary. Please let reception staffs know if you object to their presence.
